Overhead Lighting Enhances Feelings of Safety & Security

The installation of these SOLABLADEs for the barbeque and recreational areas of Jacaranda Springs Park, was part of an overall solar outdoor lighting project that included lighting the main pedestrian pathway from the corner of Foxton Boulevard to the end of park at Benson Way (370m total length), and up around to the barbeque and recreational area.  The objective was to create a useable, inviting, and interactive shared public area. 

Overhead lighting is often specified for larger open areas because overhead lighting gives an additional "vertical light" splay - commonly referred to as "facial-recognition" level of lighting. It is a combination of the height of the light as well as the LED optics to provide this layer of light that achieves the AS/NZS pedestrian category compliance standards for pathway lighting. Solar Bollards are also able to achieve the same pedestrian category compliance standards, with the allowance bollards, at their 1m installed height, are just not going to give the vertical illumination the overhead lights can.

Solar was specifically requested to reduce capital costs and to achieve project completion in a short time frame.
